Giving two options for drivers working with differing budgets, the Q8 is available as the base S-Line or the Vorsprung. The S-Line is well kitted-out, whilst the Vorsprung comes with much of the best that Audi currently has to offer.

S-Line: the younger of the twins gets 21” alloy wheels, air suspension, and 48-volt mild hybrid tech, allowing for functions such as engine coasting off-throttle; an extended, smoother and improved stop-start function; and reduced turbo lag. The car also features Matrix LED lighting, leather trim, climate control, electrical assistance and the Virtual Cockpit, plus an eight-speed automatic gearbox and various safety features.

Vorsprung: twin number one gets additional items such as dynamic all-wheel steer plus a whole host of Audi’s other features all included as standard. There are 22” alloy wheels, heated rear seats, all-wheel steering and a panoramic glass sunroof. Audio kit comes courtesy of Bang & Olufsen.

A Powerful SUV Performer

Surprising for its size, the Q8 is a quick and comfortable cruising vehicle with a penchant for good, controlled cornering. Driving modes - seven in total - have a real, distinguishable effect on the car’s performance, with ‘Comfort’ providing a softer ride; ‘Dynamic’ feeling firm and responsive, whilst dropping the car by 40mm; and an off-road mode that takes the suspension up 50mm making it ready to hit slightly rockier terrain. A four-wheel steering option makes three-points a matter of ease.
