Drivers choose their weapon from a selection of four: the SE, Sport, M Sport, and mighty M240i.

SE: a very generous starting base from BMW, the 2 Series SE is bestowed with 17” alloy wheels, air conditioning, an iDrive infotainment system and sat-nav on a 6.5” screen, DAB radio, bluetooth, LED headlights, parking sensors in the rear and automatic lights and wipers.

Sport: there’s something harder about the Sport, with its juiced-up styling inside and out. Details include an alternative 17” alloy wheel design, ambient lighting, and sport-styled steering wheel and sports seats.

M Sport: the ​M ​ of ​M Sport ​ comes with added 18” alloy wheels, a dedicated M Sport braking system, sports suspension, an upgraded sound system, and trim in half-cloth, half-leather.

M240i: taking all that is great about the 2 Series and adding on a boosted performance, the M240i delivers a 335bhp twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre petrol engine on top.

A Fun to Drive, Great Handling Car

The standard line-up on the 2 Series includes engines of 1.5, 2.0, and 3.0 litres, with three, four, and six cylinders. There’s also a 2.0-litre diesel. All are turbocharged, and come with a manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox. The steering and handling of the 2 Series ranks amongst the best of its class, delivering accuracy and a snappy response.
