Exceed your expectations and lease a brand new car with Vantage Leasing.
Are you interested in leasing your next car, but have been questioning: ‘Is personal car leasing worth it?’, or wondering ‘How does personal car leasing work?’ With lots of options available when it comes to buying a new car. From purchasing with your own money, to Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or Personal Contract Hire (PCH), how do you know which is the right option for you?
Below we will look in more detail at the pros and cons of personal car leasing, while also delving a little deeper into ‘what is personal car leasing?’
Personal Car Leasing Pros…
The advantages of personal car leasing are simply laid out in easy to digest bullet points below. When leasing a car with Vantage Leasing, you can expect:
Zero Long Term Commitments
Personal car leasing is a great option for you, should you prefer to change your car every few years. This is because leasing offers an affordable way for you to upgrade your car to the latest model, with a new manufacturer warranty, on average every 24-48 months (depending on the length of your agreement).
Pay Lower Monthly Payments
Stumping up the cash to buy a new car in full can take a heavy hit on your bank balance. Personal Car Leasing allows you to have the latest premium car model with lower monthly payments, spread across your leasing period agreement (which is typically between 24-48 months).
Bear in mind that you will usually put down 3-9 months worth of payments in advance as an upfront cost when leasing a car. Although there can be some personal car leasing deals with no deposit required that you may be lucky enough to stumble across.
Reduced Maintenance Costs
Most personal car leasing deals include an optional maintenance package, which is considered in the cost of your monthly payments but offers the benefit of keeping maintenance costs to a minimum. For example, should you run over a nail and pop one of your tyres, then this is automatically covered for you with a maintenance package. You just need to drive your car to an affiliated garage and the issue will be sorted for you with no extra charge. Maintenance plans offer peace of mind and generally make car maintenance costs cheaper in the long-run.
What is Personal Car Leasing?
Personal car leasing, also known as PCH, is a cost effective and risk free way you can drive the brand new car of your dreams. Think of it as a long term rental agreement, typically 24-48 months long, which comes at a fixed monthly cost.
What’s great about PCH is that there are NO hidden charges. Leasing is extremely cost effective because there is no APR or credit charges associated with a lease. When leasing a new car with Vantage Leasing, your monthly payment is calculated purely on the price our team negotiates for the car, and the rate of depreciation is based on your annual mileage and contract length.
Here at Vantage we also don’t believe in charging you a processing/administration fee. Our aim is to provide you with the very best service at a great price, so that you’ll continue to shop with us in the future.
As a result of our brand values, there are many cases where our clients expectations have been surpassed. This is due to the talented team at Vantage Leasing having secured our clients massive discounts across some of the UK’s most prestigious car brands.
In general you will find that prestigious cars, such as Range Rover, Mercedes, BMW, hold their value better, which means that we can offer some unbelievably cheap rentals on these vehicles, as they are worth more money to the company when handing them back vs some of the budget manufacturers. There have been many cases where our clients have come to us with tempered expectations, only to have them surpassed and placed in a prestige model.
Personal Car Leasing Cons…
In some cases personal car leasing may not be the right fit for you. Below are some disadvantages of leasing.
You Pay For Any Damage
When you are coming to the end of your agreed leasing period, you will be responsible for any damage that has been done to the vehicle in your possession. Although, this would also be the case if you owned your own car as you would want to get it fixed. But the leasing company will require you to have any damage repaired before you hand back the vehicle, although you can expect for this to not include anything covered by the car’s warranty.
Possible Additional Charges
When your lease comes to an end you will also be responsible for additional charges. These include (but are not limited to) exceeding your mileage limit that was set out in your contract, handing back your car with any missing equipment that was received when you started your lease. You will also be likely to incur a charge should you wish to hand the car back early, before the end of the agreed contract length.
You Don’t Own the car
This can be seen as a personal car leasing pro and con, depending on your preference. But should you prefer to own your car, then personal car leasing may not be the right choice for you. As you never actually own the car, instead you can think of it as a long-term hire agreement and the car is the leasing company's property rather than your own.
