Plenty of Choice

There is a choice of two diesel and three petrol engines in the Volvo XC40 range with an option of manual or automatic gearboxes and two or four-wheel drive. There are also mild hybrid options available too. The quickest petrol model is the B5 petrol which easily moves between gears but for motorway drivers, the D3 diesel offers 150hp and up to 50mpg. If you are driving the Volvo XC40 as a family car then the entry-level T3 three-cylinder petrol model will be great for driving the family about town. If you are looking for a mild hybrid and can access a charging point then the T4 or T5 petrol plug-in models can travel 28 miles on their electric motors alone (when fully charged) and have 211hp and 262hp; pretty impressive for a hybrid. When driving the Volvo XC40 offers a soft suspension that easily absorbs the shock of bumps and lumps in the road.
