If you are in the market for an electric car the Audi E-Tron is a posh, practical SUV that has two impressive electric motors that offer a surprisingly powerful and comfortable drive. At first glance you would think the E-Tron is your standard petrol or diesel engine, it is when you look closer you discover its exciting and innovative design.
An Incredibly Modern Design
The Audi E-Tron doesn't shout about it's electric credentials, but it should. You can fully charge your E-Tron from a flat battery at home in nine hours when using a dedicated wall box. What is really impressive is that when 150kw fast chargers are released in the UK, you will be able to charge the battery from empty to 80% full in just half an hour! Moving on to practicality of design inside the spacious cabin there is plenty of room for the whole family, fitting three adults in the back and of course a generous 660 litre boot too. Inside there is plenty of tech including an exciting high-tech infotainment system with not one, but three high resolution screens and plenty of space inside. The new Audi E-Tron is stacked with plenty of posh kit including leather interior, ambient lighting as standard and on the E-Tron launch edition there are leading edge virtual rear facing cameras that replace traditional wing mirrors.
A Simple, Straightforward Specification
The are currently two E-Tron models available: the standard E-Tron and the E-Tron Launch Edition.
E-Tron: Fully electric the E-Tron is packed with tech including LED headlights, MMI Navigation Plus with Audi Virtual Cockpit and wireless charging, standard seats in Twin Leather upholstery, Electric drive system with boost function, 20 inch 5-arm dynamic contrasting grey alloy wheels, parking driver assist with 360degree display and rear view camera, remote climate control. charging capabilities up to 11kW AC and 150 kW DC with a 95kWh lithium-ion battery.
E-Tron Launch Edition: The advanced Audi E-Tron Launch Edition has Audi Matrix LED headlights with beam assist and dynamic front and rear indicators, MMI Navigation Plus with MMI Touch and Audi Virtual Cockpit, front Sport seats with Valcona leather, two electric motors producing 300kW of power, 21 inch 5-V-spoke star design alloy wheels, remote climate control, virtual wing mirrors (cameras instead of mirrors) and charging capabilities of up to 11kW AC and 150 kW DC with a 95kWh lithium-ion battery.
Efficiency and Performance
Both the standard E-Tron and E-Tron Launch Edition have 95kWh battery powered engines with 55 quattro that can handle 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds. When it comes to handling on the road progressive steering and cruise control help you stay safe at all times. With a surprising 408 bhp this electronic SUV has instant performance when it comes to acceleration, thanks to two electric motors positioned on the front and rear axle. Four-wheel drive also means you have a firm grip on the road at all times, reaching top speeds of 124 mph, which is rather impressive for a heavy electric car. In regards to distance if driven with care then you should max 249 miles before the battery requires charging, as regenerative brakes recharge the battery each time you lift your foot off the accelerator. A 360 degree camera makes life easy when it comes to parking and if you are using your E-Tron for travelling or business trips you won't get any additional charges as the E-Tron is free from paying the London Congestion Charge, as there are no nasty emissions. For sensible driving with a shed load of tech the E-Tron is a marvelous fully electronic edition to the Audi family.
